Annie Jane Jocephine Vines

August 3, 1951 — March 15, 2026

It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Annie Jane Jocephine Vines, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Annie passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at St. Bernardine's Hospital in San Bernardino, CA, surrounded by the warmth and love of her daughter and son-in-law. She was 74 years old. Annie was born on August 3, 1951, in the charming town of West Point, Georgia, to James Julius Denson Fincher and Patsy Ruth Laseman, who preceded her in death. She is the oldest of her siblings, Charlene Doll, Jerry Mathews, Marlene Hamilton, and Sandra Maiden, who survive her. Her parents predeceased Annie along with her brother, Julius Kern Fincher; her sister, Theresa Davolt; and her niece, Ramona Baird. A trailblazer in her own right, Annie graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, CA, in 1970. She pursued her passion for numbers by attending Woodbury University and Denver University, majoring in Accounting. Despite facing health challenges that prevented her from completing her degree, Annie never let obstacles deter her spirit or ambition. Annie's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. She worked as a waitress, secretary, bookkeeper, and tax preparer before making her mark as the human resources and benefits administrator at Standard Oil Corporation and Amoco Oil in Colorado. She later returned to California and served as the payroll administrator for Amtech Lighting, and in her latter years, chose to work closer to home for San Bernardino County in the Registrar of Voters Office. Her caring nature led her to work for the San Bernardino County In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Department, where she provided compassionate care to those in need. Annie's life was defined by her unwavering faith and dedication to service. She was an active member of the Mentone Senior Citizens Center Council, where she held the role of Sgt.-in-Arms. Her heart was generous, regularly supporting organizations such as the Disabled American Veterans and the Wounded Warrior Project, among many other organizations. A lover of nature and simple pleasures, Annie found joy in camping, fishing, reading, and watching movies. Her quick wit, great sense of humor, warm smile, and hearty laugh endeared her to everyone she met. Annie had an innate ability to make people feel valued and was always ready to greet a stranger and make them a friend. Annie's legacy is carried on by her devoted daughter, Daphne M. Hunter-Rakes, her son-in-law Mark, her three cherished grandchildren, Kiana D. Hunter-Quesada, Jordan D. Hunter-Quesada, and Benjamin D. Fleischer, and her two precious great-grandchildren, Xavier A. Dibben and Cayde D. McRae. A celebration of Annie's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Friendly Hills Mobile Estates Clubhouse, located at 2140 Mentone Blvd., Mentone, CA 92359. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have showered them with love, support, flowers, and prayers during this difficult time. They invite you to take a keepsake, think of Annie, and spread sunshine with a warm smile, planting seeds of love and kindness into the lives of others. In honoring Annie's life, let us remember her not with sorrow, but with joy and thankfulness for the light she brought into our lives. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
