Obituary for Anne Laing April 21, 1940 - March 11, 2026 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Anne Laing, a beloved mother, aunt, and cherished friend, who left this world on March 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Anne passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. Anne was born on April 21, 1940, in the vibrant city of Belfast, in the county of Antrim, Northern Ireland. She was the cherished daughter of Alexander and Margret Reid, who instilled in her the values of compassion and dedication that she carried throughout her life. Growing up alongside her brothers Alexander, Nathanial, John, and sister Fhill, Anne learned the importance of family bonds, a lesson she imparted to her own family with grace and warmth. In 1963, Anne married the love of her life, Peter Spence Laing. Together, they crafted a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Their union was blessed with the birth of their son, Neal Alexander Laing, who was the light of Anne's life. Anne and Peter shared a beautiful journey until Peter's passing, a testament to their enduring commitment and love for one another. Anne's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and relationships. Her presence was a beacon of hope and joy to all who knew her. She was not only a devoted mother but also a beloved aunt to 11 nieces and nephews, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her home was always open, filled with warmth and the welcoming aroma of her famous home-cooked meals, which were as comforting as her embrace. Throughout her life, Anne was known for her quick wit, her generous spirit, and her ability to make everyone she met feel valued and heard. She had an infectious laugh that could light up a room, and a gentle demeanor that made her an adored confidante and friend. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter, her brothers, Alexander, Nathanial, John, and her sister, Fhill. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her surviving son, Neal, and her extended family of nieces and nephews, who will forever treasure the lessons and love she imparted. As we celebrate Anne's life, we are reminded of her favorite saying: "Life is but a tapestry, woven with love and kindness." Her tapestry was indeed beautiful, enriched by the lives she touched and the love she gave freely. A service to honor Anne's remarkable life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate the incredible woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Anne's memory to a charity close to her heart, one that supports families and communities, echoing her lifelong commitment to helping others. Anne Laing's legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye, we carry her memory with us, eternally grateful for the time we shared and the love she gave so freely.
