October 16, 1938 — May 8, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Taglieri on May 8, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 16, 1938, in the close-knit community of Minersville, PA, Anna brought warmth and dedication to every life she touched. Anna was the cherished daughter of the late Adelina Eramo and Cesare Taglieri, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and the pursuit of knowledge. She shared her formative years with her beloved siblings: brothers Dante, Carmine, and Julius Taglieri, and sisters Dora Mitchell and Barbara Roesch, all of whom preceded her in passing. She leaves behind her loving sisters, Dena Shapella, Lena Sokola, and Mary Bowers, to celebrate her enduring legacy of love and devotion. A proud alumna of Minersville High School, Class of 1957, Anna pursued higher education with a passion that defined her life's work. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from West Chester University in 1961, graduating cum laude, and went on to obtain a Master of Science degree from Adelphi University in 1973. Her thirst for knowledge and commitment to education led her to a fulfilling career as a teacher at East Meadow High School in East Meadow, NY, where she inspired countless students with her compassion and wisdom. Anna was a woman of great intellect and empathy, finding joy in guiding young minds and nurturing their potential. Her dedication to her students was matched only by her devotion to her family and friends. Though she had no children of her own, she was a beloved aunt, sister, and friend to many, and her influence was felt deeply by those who knew her. A devout member of St Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Anna’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Her spiritual community provided her with solace, strength, and a sense of belonging that she cherished deeply. A celebration of Anna's life will be held on May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, located at 539 Sunbury St, Minersville, PA, 17954. Family, friends, former students, and all whose lives were enriched by Anna are invited to join in honoring her memory and the indelible mark she left on the world. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna’s name to a charity of choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education and community service. Though Anna has departed this world, her spirit endures, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and kindness that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
