In Loving Memory

Anna Spencer
January 7, 1948 — March 12, 2026
Anna Spencer, a beacon of love and devotion, was born on January 7, 1948, in Cape Town, South Africa, and peacefully departed this world on March 12, 2026, at the age of 78. She spent her final days embraced by the warmth of her home and the love of her family, after a courageous battle with illness.
Anna was the beloved daughter of the late Donald and Etelka McGregor Clark, and the cherished sister of the late Moira Manca. Her love story with James Spencer, whom she joined in 1975, spanned nearly two decades until his passing in 1993. Together, they built a life defined by love and laughter, raising two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Amanda, along with Amanda's husband, Thomas, who brought much joy to Anna's life. Anna's legacy of love continues through her six adoring grandchildren: James, Kayla and her husband Kaegan, Amara, Torsten, Chiara, and Matt, who were the light of her life.
Anna's journey in life was marked by a deep commitment to her faith and community. An active member of her church, she dedicated countless hours to non-profit organizations, always striving to uplift those less fortunate. Her unwavering devotion to family and God was matched only by her steadfast nature and fiery spirit. Anna had an extraordinary ability to find humor even in the hardest moments, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her.
A woman of many talents, Anna left school after completing Standard 8 to pursue a secretarial diploma, a decision that led to a 40-year career as a secretary. Her professional life was characterized by dedication and meticulous attention to detail, but it was in her personal pursuits where she truly flourished. An enthusiastic seamstress, she delighted in crafting beautiful dresses for Matric Dances and cushions for weddings, each stitch a testament to her love of creating. Her garden was her sanctuary, and she could often be found tending to it, snipping cuttings from roadside plants with the same care she extended to her family.
Anna's love for music was infectious; she was known to break into the Twist at gatherings and would often pick up her guitar, filling the room with melodies that echoed her vibrant spirit. Her life was a tapestry of laughter, love, and resilience—a testament to a woman who embraced every moment with grace and courage.
Anna will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on the world. Her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
The family invites those who knew Anna to join in a celebration of her life, details of which will be shared in due course. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna's memory to a charity close to her heart, continuing her legacy of helping others.
