It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Ruth Hale, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, on May 29, 2026, at the age of 93, after a brief illness. Born on September 13, 1932, in Logan, West Virginia, to parents William Herndon and Annie Opal Hale, Anna was a beacon of kindness, strength, and grace throughout her long and fulfilling life.
Anna was predeceased by her cherished brother, William Hale, and her loving husband, Harry Dulaney, with whom she shared a wonderful life since their marriage in 1980 until his passing in 2024. Their union was a testament to enduring love, filled with shared joys, adventures, and mutual support.
She is survived by her devoted sisters, Donetta Vanhuss, Shirley Dyer, and Linda Steele, who stood by her side through life's many seasons. Anna's love extended to her nieces and nephews—Danette Smith (Tom), Hugh Hale (Laura), Mike Dyer (Vallery), Wes Steele (Karl), Patrick Steele (Jennifer), and Michelle Ferguson—as well as her numerous great-nieces and nephews and their children, all of whom she adored dearly.
Anna dedicated 40 years of her professional life to the Department of Physics at Georgia Tech University, where her work was admired and respected by colleagues and students alike. Her contribution to the academic community was marked by her unwavering commitment and passion for education, leaving a lasting impact on many young minds.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Wellstar Cobb Medical Center for their compassionate and professional care during Anna’s illness. Special thanks are also extended to the caregivers from Visiting Angels for their warm and caring assistance and to her dear long-term neighbors, Gary and Louise, for their unwavering friendship and support over the years.
A celebration of Anna's remarkable life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 169 Forest Lawn Cemetery Rd, Pecks Mill, WV 25547. Family and friends are invited to gather in loving remembrance of Anna, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
Anna Ruth Hale will be remembered for her boundless kindness, wisdom, and the love she shared with those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
