With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Marie George Lindley, who left this world on May 16, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on July 9, 1941, in De Leon, Texas, Anna Marie was the beloved daughter of Kirk and Wade George. She departed this life after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her dear friends and family, who will forever cherish her memory. Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Kirk Doggett George and Wade Preston George, her son Dirk Edward Lindley, her sister Wadena McAlister, and her brother Roger George. Her legacy of love and devotion continues through her surviving family: her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles Lindley; her son Donnie Lindley and his wife Kim; and her six treasured grandchildren: Bryce Lindley and his wife Sarah, Brooke Apperson, Evanne Scates and her husband Phillip, Alanna Godfrey and her husband Billy, Caroline McGale and her husband Sawyer, and Joseph Lindley and his fiancée Lauren Lindberg. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Harper, Howie, Reece, Charlie Kate, Eliza, Goldie, and Rowan, who brought her immense joy and pride. Anna Marie was a graduate of De Leon High School, class of 1959, and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Business from Tarleton State University. Her professional journey began at the age of 18 at Texas A&M University's main library, while her beloved Charles pursued his undergraduate degree. Anna Marie's career was marked by her relentless work ethic and determination. After supporting her family through various part-time positions, she found her place at Byford Machine and Tool Inc., where she worked her way up from clerk/typist to co-owner and president, dedicating 25 years to the company. Her later years were spent in real estate, where she enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career working alongside her husband, Charles. A pillar of her community, Anna Marie was a devoted member of the Clifton Church of Christ for an incredible 59 years. Her commitment to service extended to the Clifton Chamber of Commerce and the Clifton Economic Development Corporation. Her dedication was recognized with the Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. As chairwoman of the Heart of Texas Workforce Development Board and a member of the Bosque County Rotary Board for many years, Anna Marie's contributions to her community were profound and lasting. Her passions extended far beyond her professional and community endeavors. Anna Marie found solace and joy in fishing and gardening, nurturing a deep connection to her family farm, the birthplace of both her and her father. She was an active participant in her church's ladies' bible class, where she formed enduring friendships, and she cherished her Bridge Club, where lifelong bonds were forged. Her hospitality was legendary, as she and Charles welcomed newcomers to Clifton with open arms, building friendships that were filled with laughter and warmth. Anna Marie will be remembered for her hard work, drive, wisdom, friendliness, and intentional nature. She had an extraordinary ability to see potential in others, encouraging them to realize their dreams and capabilities. Her life was a testament to the power of love, community, and family, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. As we bid farewell to Anna Marie, we celebrate the richness of her life and the legacy of love she leaves behind. She will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of kindness, strength, and grace. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
