Ann Marie Parks Berry, a woman whose life was a testament to resilience, love, and laughter, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2026, after a courageous ten-year battle with renal disease. Ann Marie York was born on August 8, 1959, in Tucson, Arizona, Ann was the cherished daughter of Marie Santos York and Travis York, who have since predeceased her in death.
Ann's journey through life was marked by her unwavering strength and kindness. She thrived from her independence and determination to be the best mother, daughter and sister she could be. She was brought to Texas and was raised as Ann Marie Parks, in a loving home by her adoptive parents Pink and Annie Parks in Crockett, Tx who preceded her in death. Her siblings, Melinda E. York and Arthur York, have also gone to rest before her.
Ann was married to Eldon M. Berry in December 1979, in Houston County, Texas. She raised her children Brandon D. Parks, JoeAnn W. Berry, and Gwendolyn L. Berry as a single parent. Ann is also survived by her siblings Charles Dixon, Travis York Jr., Cora Lee Walker, Tracy York, and Carol York, as well as her nieces and nephews, Shamayah N. York-Walker, Jason York, Shawn J. Walker, Rana Dixon, Rachel Dixon, and Charles Dixon Jr. Ann has countless friends and family
A student of life and knowledge, Ann attended Crockett High School from 1975 to 1977 and earned her GED in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1988. Her pursuit for a better life for her family led her to study criminal justice at Corpus Christi Community College from 1989 to 1992.
Her career began as a corrections officer with the Texas Department of Corrections in 1983. Ann's relentless determination saw her become a certified arc welder and commercial truck driver after relocating to Corpus Christi in 1987. She spent 12 years in South Texas before moving to Austin for a decade, eventually returning to Crockett in 2010, where she worked as a private caregiver, a role that perfectly matched her nurturing spirit.
Ann's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Raised in the Church of God & Christ, she later became an active member and choir participant at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church while living in Corpus Christi. Her current membership with Good Shepherd Fellowship Church, Crockett, Tx provided her with cherished friends and family during the later years of her life.
Ann was an avid fan of western movies and possessed talents in drawing, painting, learning the piano, and writing. She found joy in reading her Bible, spending time with her family and friends, attending church, and exploring new places. She made life long friends throughout her lifetime. Above all she devoted her life to caring for her children.
Ann will be remembered for her humor and wit, qualities that never failed to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Her heart was immense, and her loyalty to her friends and family knew no bounds. Fear was never an obstacle; her love and protection were steadfast against any challenge big or small.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Ms. Sherry Davis, whose love, support, and friendship were immeasurable gifts to Ann and her children.
The family kindly suggests contributions in Ann's memory be made to the Good Shepherd Fellowship Church. Ann's legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
