Ann Lessar, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Arizona on October 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 31, 1942, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and moved to Harney County as a child. Ann's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the warmth she spread to everyone she encountered.
Ann was the cherished wife of John Lessar, with whom she shared an extraordinary 68-year journey of love and commitment, having celebrated their wedding anniversary this past June. Together, they built a family that became the center of her world. Ann was a devoted mother to Jennifer and Andrew, and though her son Chuck preceded her in death, his memory remained close to her heart. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren—Amanda, Garan, AJ, Alex, and Carley—and her 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Ann's professional life was as varied and dynamic as she was. She took on multiple roles in the community of Burns, including ownership of a Montgomery Wards store. Her career culminated in her retirement from the Senior Center in Burns, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many seniors. Ann's dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew her.
Her zest for life extended beyond her professional accomplishments. Ann was an avid sewer and quilter, creating beautiful pieces. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for fishing, camping, and hunting, activities she enjoyed alongside her family and friends. She was active in community activities in Burns. After retiring, John and Ann enjoyed winters at her sister's home in Congress, Arizona. After a few years, they bought property in North Ranch, and enjoyed time exploring the desert and making new friends. Ann's vibrant spirit was often shared over a friendly game of cards, particularly during her retirement years at North Ranch in Arizona, where she formed countless friendships.
Ann's warmth and ability to connect with others were among her most defining qualities. She had a remarkable gift for meeting new people and making them feel like lifelong friends. Her kindness, generosity, and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In honor of Ann's life, her family will hold a private funeral ceremony.
