Ann Barker

June 3, 1952 — September 18, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Barker, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, who left this world peacefully on September 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born on June 3, 1952, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Ralph and Carol (Geitz) Dreisbach, who predeceased her. Ann was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. She grew up in Fenton, Michigan, where she met her lifelong love, Dan Barker. Their love story, which began in their teenage years, culminated in a beautiful marriage on September 9, 1972. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of joy, adventure, and unyielding devotion until Dan’s passing. Ann’s early years were marked by her vibrant spirit and leadership qualities. A graduate of Fenton High School in 1970, where she was crowned homecoming queen, Ann forged friendships that would last a lifetime. She continued her education at Ferris State University and later embraced a career as a social worker, ultimately assisting hospital patients with obtaining medical insurance coverage. Her professional life was a testament to her compassion and her commitment to helping others. Ann’s greatest pride and joy were her daughters, Kelly and Lindsey Barker, and her cherished grandson, Jax Grochocki. Her heart swelled with love for Jax, whom she often referred to as her "favorite person." Their bond was one of endless play, laughter, and adventure. Ann's kindness extended to all children; she was an active presence in her daughters’ lives, serving as a Sunday school teacher and leading the neighborhood children on everything from nature hikes and trash pick-up adventures to hosting haunted houses, carnivals, having marshmallow roasts in the fireplace, and endless sleepovers for their friends. Her home was always filled with creativity and warmth. Known affectionately as "Martha Stewart" by those who admired her crafting and creative talents, Ann's love for nature was evident in the years she spent camping and hiking or enjoying the views at one of the great lakes with her husband, Dan. Ann is survived by her loving daughters, Kelly and Lindsey Barker; special grandson, Jax Grochocki, sister, Mary Miller; nephews, Ken Dreisbach and Derek Barker; nieces, Jessica Detrich and Angela Avery; many dear cousins, and her amazing friends of the Fenton Women's Council. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Dan Barker; sister, Jane Metz; brother, Kurt Dreisbach; and her parents, Ralph and Carol Dreisbach. A memorial is being planned for the coming weeks.
