With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the peaceful passing of Anita R. Montez, who left this world surrounded by the warmth and comfort of her cherished home in Corpus Christi, Texas, on June 3, 2026. Born on December 11, 1926, to Francisco Rodriguez and Maximina Benavidez, Anita's life was a radiant testament to love, family, and service to her community.
Anita was the beloved wife of the late Andres Montez, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 63 years. Together, they built a family rooted in deep love and mutual respect, welcoming 12 cherished children into their lives. Anita's unwavering devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, as she lovingly embraced her role as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Angelica Garcia (Pablo), Amparo Chapa (Hector), Audrey Pena (Juventino), and sons Arnold Montez (Janet "deceased"), Anthony Montez (Maria), Alfred Montez (Sara), and Arthur Montez (Christine). Her legacy continues through her 41 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.
A woman of deep faith, Anita was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Her service to the church and her community was a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering faith. Anita also found immense joy in volunteering at local hospitals, where she offered comfort and companionship to children in need. Her kindness and warmth left a lasting impression, often leading to reunions with adults who fondly remembered her from their childhood visits to Woodlawn Elementary School, where she worked for many years.
Anita was predeceased by her parents, Francisco and Maximina, as well as her daughter Anita (Mary) Benavidez and sons Augustine Montez, Andres Montez Jr., and Albert Montez. In their memory, she carried a deep and abiding love, cherishing the moments shared and the bonds that will endure beyond their passing.
Visitation will be held on June 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Seaside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Reid Chapel, located at 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78412. A rosary will be offered at 7:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 7841, Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Anita's kindness and generosity are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for her life.
Anita R. Montez will be remembered for her unyielding love, boundless compassion, and the immeasurable joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy is one of warmth, grace, and a life lived in service to others. As we bid her farewell, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
