In Loving Memory
Anita Louise Stixrud
February 23, 1956 — March 17, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Louise Stixrud, a radiant soul who graced our lives with love and compassion. Anita passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, after bravely battling metastatic pancreatic cancer. Born on February 23, 1956, in University Place, Anita spent 67 vibrant years touching the lives of those around her.
Anita was the cherished daughter of Virginia Adeline Carlbum and was predeceased by her beloved Herbert Raymond Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Elvis Ejovi, whom she married on December 26, 2018. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared moments that will forever be cherished.
Anita was the proud and loving mother of Michael Ray Stixrud, Shane Robert Stixrud, Kristina Breann Ellis, and Rebecca Peterson. Her legacy of love continues through her six adored grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
A graduate of Clover Park High School in 1974, Anita dedicated 25 years of her life to serving as a special needs foster parent. Her career was more than just a job; it was her calling. Anita's home was a sanctuary of warmth and acceptance, where every child felt like her own. She was the person everyone looked up to, a beacon of strength and tenderness, who embraced each foster child with unwavering love and kindness.
Anita's compassion extended beyond her human family to the animal kingdom. She had a profound love for exotic animals, rescuing many, including Rocky from the shelter, and caring for her treasured exotic cat, Tabia. Her home was always open to those in need, whether they had two legs or four.
Known for her gentle spirit and generous heart, Anita was a guiding light in the lives of many. Her ability to love unconditionally and her dedication to fostering a nurturing environment for all who crossed her path were hallmarks of her character. She inspired us to see the world through a lens of empathy and understanding, teaching us the true meaning of family and compassion.
As we celebrate Anita's life, we remember her not only for her boundless love and kindness but for the joy and inspiration she brought to everyone she met. Her legacy will forever be etched in our hearts, her influence felt in the lives she touched.
A memorial service to honor Anita's beautiful life will be held on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to organizations supporting foster care and animal rescue, causes that were dear to Anita's heart.
Though she is no longer with us, Anita Louise Stixrud's spirit lives on in the love she gave and the lives she transformed. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the warmth and love she gave so freely in this world.
