Anita Davidson, a beloved matriarch and a beacon of faith and love, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Washington, DC, on June 30, 1937, Anita embodied grace and compassion throughout her life, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Anita was predeceased by her devoted husband, William, and her dear son, Richard. Their memories were a light she carried with her, and she spoke of them often with warmth and fondness. She is survived by her loving children, sons Gary (Michanne) and Alan, and daughter Jan (John), who were the center of her world. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Kellye, Gary (Christy), Kayla (Nick), Kristen (Andy), Chase (Bailey), Colten, Matthew, Jacob, and Michael (Lawren)—and her nine great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Anita's life was a testament to the virtues of faith, love, and service. She raised her family in a Christian home, teaching them the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ. Her faith was not only an anchor for her family but also a guiding light for her community. Anita dedicated countless hours to teaching Sunday School, ministering in nursing homes, and providing comfort to families in hospital waiting rooms. Her acts of kindness were a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to serving others.
Anita's creative spirit found expression in her hobbies, which she pursued with joy and skill. She was an accomplished seamstress, crafting special items for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love in every stitch. Her talent for making purses, jewelry, and beautiful wreaths was admired by all who knew her. In her quieter moments, she found delight in reading and playing card games, often surrounded by the laughter and company of her family.
A service to celebrate Anita's remarkable life will be held on May 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember Anita's life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Anita's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause dear to her heart. Contributions can be made through their website at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
