Angela Mertens Adams

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angela Mertens Adams, best known as Uggie, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, on April 10, 2026. Angela was born on April 4, 1969, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and she graced the world with her presence for 57 glorious years. Her journey through life was one marked by love, resilience, and a free spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Angela was the cherished daughter of Barbara and Gary Hall and the late Burt Rollett, who preceded her in death. Also, preceded in death by her late husband Ed Adams. She was a beacon of strength within her family, providing love and guidance to her surviving child, Candace Adams, who was the pride and joy of her life. Angela was also the adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren, Coltan, Blaiton, and Kashton Adams, who brought immense happiness and laughter into her days. A proud graduate of Middlesboro High School, Angela worked in many fields thoughout her life but her pride and joy came from being a homemaker. Angela dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and creating a warm and loving home for her daughter and grandsons. Beyond her professional life, Angela found solace and joy in the great outdoors. She relished adventuring through nature, whether it was four-wheeling across rugged trails, riding horses with the wind in her hair, or gathering around bonfires with family and friends. Angela possessed a unique blend of qualities that made her truly special. Her unwavering honesty and integrity set her apart from most, and she was admired for her ability to remain unapologetically herself. Her confidence and resilience inspired those around her, and her humor and fun-loving spirit made her a joy to be around. She is survived by her loving family: siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins who loved her like a sister, and abundance of friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart. A service to celebrate Angela's remarkable life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Shumate Funeral Home's onsite chapel, located at 2321 W Cumberland Ave, Middlesboro, KY 40965. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the incredible woman Angela was. Angela Mertens Adams will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the love she gave will forever be cherished by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
