Andrew Ray Wheeler, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on April 5, 1959, in the close-knit community of Wadley, Alabama, Andrew was the cherished son of the late L.C. and Mae Recia Wheeler, who instilled in him the values of hard work, faith, and love for family.
Andrew was a proud graduate of Wadley High School, where he not only excelled in his academic pursuits but also shone as an athlete, playing both football and basketball with passion and vigor. His dedication on the field and court was matched by his commitment to his teammates and his school, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him during those formative years.
Following his graduation, Andrew's professional journey led him to Plantation Patterns, where he dedicated 25 years as a shipping supervisor. Known for his work ethic, integrity, and leadership, Andrew was respected and admired by colleagues and friends alike. He took great pride in his role and the relationships he built throughout his career, always going above and beyond to support those around him.
A man of deep faith, Andrew was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. His involvement in the church community was a testament to his lifelong commitment to his beliefs and the fellowship he cherished. His faith guided him through life's many seasons, providing a foundation of strength and serenity that he shared with those around him.
Andrew is survived by his loving sister, Helen Wheeler Delaney, who was not only his sibling but his lifelong confidante and friend. He also leaves behind three cherished nieces: Maresa Shaunta Wheeler, Jasmine Paige Wheeler, and Alexis Moon. His legacy of love extends to his great-nieces, Aubree Rose Hill and Aalliyah Elise Prichard, and great-nephews, Carson Denzel Maddox and Jashian Ahmad Moon, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
In remembering Andrew, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to family and faith. His gentle spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May we find comfort in the shared memories of Andrew and the profound impact he made during his time with us.
