Andrew Curtis Boyd, Jr., a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026. Born on May 28, 1950, in Midnight, Mississippi, Andrew was the cherished son of the late Andrew C. Boyd and Dorlena Hicks. Andrew was a pillar of strength, compassion, and kindness. Known for his generosity, he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His life was a testament to the values of love, faith, and community. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Rosie M. Boyd, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. Andrew is survived by his loving children, Andrew C. Boyd III (Shana) of Belzoni, Mississippi, and Courtney L. Boyd of Forney, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Ashlin Boyd, Aaleya Boyd, Courtney Boyd, Jr., Rosie M. Boyd, Zaniya Buchanan, and Princeton Walker, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. Andrew is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Hicks-Jones (Robert), Kenneth Hicks (Victoria), and Dennis Hicks of Louisville, Kentucky; Patricia Hooper of Norwalk, California; Kenneth McGinnis of Chicago, Illinois; William Boyd (Sharonda) of San Antonio, Texas; John Stanley Boyd of Arlington, Texas; Vivian Boyd of Mobile, Alabama; Josephine Boyd of Houston, Texas; and Felecia Boyd of Houston, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Jacqueline Hicks, Ricky Hicks, Clinton Chinn Sr., and Carl Boyd. A devoted member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Andrew served as a deacon for many years, offering guidance and support to his spiritual community. His faith was central to his life, and he was admired for his dedication and service. Andrew cherished his friendships, especially those with his close friends James "Bullet" Finley and Charles "Charlie Lee" Herbert of Midnight, Mississippi. Together, they shared countless memories and adventures that enriched his life. A celebration of Andrew's life will take place on August 15, 2026, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 59 Anderson St., Midnight, MS 39115. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a man who touched so many with his warmth and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Andrew's memory, supporting the community he loved and served so faithfully. Andrew Curtis Boyd, Jr. will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the lessons he imparted will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
