It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andres Castro, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. Andres departed this world on September 2, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on November 10, 1935, in the vibrant town of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Andres was the beloved son of Lola Mulero and Valentin Castro Sr. His early years were marked by the close bonds he formed with his siblings, Jesus, Julio, Sebastían, Santiago, Elsie, Valentin Jr., and Gladys, who together created a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and love. Andres's life was a testament to service and dedication, values he embraced when he joined the United States Military Army Reserves in 1954. With honor and integrity, he served his country until 1962, earning a Good Conduct Medal that spoke volumes about his character and commitment. A devoted family man, Andres was predeceased by his parents, Lola and Valentin, and his dear siblings Jesus, Julio, Sebastían, Santiago, and Elsie. The loss of his son, Andres Castro Jr., was a heartfelt sorrow he carried with grace and resilience. In the wake of his passing, Andres leaves behind a legacy of love through his cherished family. He is survived by his brother Valentin Jr. and sister Gladys, who hold dear the memories of their shared childhood. His daughters, Minerva Castro Elsayed and Nancy Cruz, along with son-in-law Luis Cruz, carry forward his spirit of compassion and strength. Jackie Bailey, his daughter-in-law, and step-daughter Dwan Armstrong, remember him fondly for his guidance and warmth. His granddaughters Lis Madeline Castro, Sabrina McKoy, and Isabel Ines Cruz brought immense joy to his life, with his great-granddaughters Lyahbelle, Lumielle Hernandez, and Charlotte McKoy being the radiant lights of his later years. Andres's family further extends to his adoptive nephew and nieces Jonathan Buckman, Lisette Freyre, and Sheena Martinez, whose lives he enriched with love and support, and their children Kainos, Dylan, and Luke, who were the apples of his eye. Andres's life was a beautiful journey marked by love, dedication, and service. His gentle spirit and profound wisdom will be sorely missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with kindness and integrity.
