March 6, 1938 — April 29, 2026

It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Andrea Lee Dunnam Burgess Jones, who peacefully left this world on April 29, 2026, at the age of 88, at Monark Grove from heart failure. Her journey began on March 6, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, born to the late Andrew Berry Dunnam and Minnie Estelle Scott Dunnam. Andrea's early life in Birmingham was filled with love and warmth, shared with her siblings, the late William B. Dunnam, Doris Faye Burroughs, and Martha Sue King. She carried the values instilled by her family throughout her life, always reflecting the qualities of joy, kindness, and a giving spirit that defined her. In 1956, soon after graduating from Jones Valley High School, Andrea married her high school sweetheart, Charles Elbert Burgess. Their union was blessed with a son, Dr. Stephen Wayne Burgess. Together, Andrea and Charles built a life filled with love and joy until his passing in 1987. Later, she found love anew with William Edward Jones, warmly embracing his sons, Joey and Ronnie, into her heart and family. Andrea was a dedicated professional, initially serving as a loan officer at Birmingham Trust National Bank before dedicating her time to raising her son. In 1972, she resumed her career at The City of Alabaster, where she was a valued magistrate, personnel administrator, and secretary to the Mayor until her retirement in 2000. Her colleagues remember her for her steadfast dedication, warmth, and integrity. Beyond her professional life, Andrea was a devoted member of the Pelham Church of God, where she participated actively in the community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through times of joy and sorrow alike. She was particularly known for her active card ministry and daily blessings, spreading kindness and compassion wherever she went. Andrea's culinary talents were cherished by all who knew her. Her deviled eggs, cole slaw, and fruit cake were not just dishes but expressions of love shared with family and friends during countless gatherings. Her legacy lives on through her son, Dr. Stephen Wayne Burgess (Pamela), and her stepsons, Joey Jones (Melinda) and Ronnie Jones (Laura). She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and wisdom she imparted. A service celebrating Andrea's life will be held on May 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Pelham Church of God, 2100 County Rd 52 E, Pelham, AL 35124. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Jimmy Hale Mission, honoring Andrea's lifelong commitment to giving and service. Andrea Lee Dunnam Burgess Jones left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Her joyful spirit, boundless kindness, and unwavering generosity will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered. As we celebrate her life, we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved family in the embrace of the Lord.
