Ana Sofia Fernandez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on September 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on April 30, 1934, in the sunlit town of Santa Ana, Sonora, Mexico, Ana lived a life of warmth, resilience, and love, touching countless hearts along the way.
Ana was the cherished daughter of Rafael and Conception Martinez Cubillas. Her life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, woven together by her unwavering dedication to family . She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Andrew Fernandez, Sr., and her beloved children, Andrea Fong, Raquel Fernandez, and Andrew Fernandez, Jr. and grandson Christian Thompson. Their memories remain a guiding light for those they left behind.
Ana's legacy continues through her surviving children, Diana Alsop and her husband Gene of Elk Grove, CA; Martin Fernandez and his wife Deedee of Kea'au, HI, and Ana L. Fernandez of Prescott, AZ; Her grandson Lt. Col. Steven Alsop, USMC,(Rachel), their children Charlotte, Caitlin, Caroline; granddaughter Shaston Carlson (James),their children Nayeli and Valeo Galdon, and Kyla Carlson; granddaughter Sofia Wright (Sean), their children Amarisa Chuon, Killion, Asten, Katalina, and Phoenix Wright; granddaughter Laura Fernandez & her children Emilia and John Root; and grandson Andrew A. Fernandez. Also survived by son-in-law Burke Fong, & his granddaughter Lilith Ann Thompson, all a source of immense pride and joy for her, each carrying forward her spirit of kindness and generosity.
A woman of profound faith, Ana found solace and strength in her community at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Her life will be celebrated there on October 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with viewing at 10:30 AM. The service will be held at 3597 N. Sunridge Dr., Carson City, NV 89705, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the indelible impact she made on those around her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ana's dedicated caregiver, Liliana Cruz, whose compassionate care provided comfort in her final years, and to her dear friend, Nellie Polson, whose companionship was a cherished blessing to Ana.
Ana Sofia Fernandez's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those she touched. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of her family and the grace of her faith.
