Amy Terese Salsgiver

March 27, 1979 — July 15, 2026

Amy Terese Salsgiver, beloved daughter, sister, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 47, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 27, 1979, in Willoughby, Ohio, Amy was the cherished daughter of Betty Jane Germ and the late Edward Germ. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A proud graduate of Mentor High School in 1997, Amy pursued her love for music with passion and dedication. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the Manhattan Institute of Music in 2001 and continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her thirst for knowledge and her love for music led her to the Istanbul Technical University’s Center for Advanced Research in Music (MIAM), where she completed her Doctorate in 2025. At MIAM, Amy shared her immense talent and passion as a faculty member and led the MIAM Percussion and MIAM Improvisation Ensembles. Amy was not only an accomplished percussionist and composer but also an inspiring educator. She co-created the percussion group sa.ne.na and collaborated with renowned performers and composers, including Slagwerk den Hague, Christian Benning, Michael Gordon, and the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. Her contributions to the world of music were as immense as they were innovative, leaving an indelible mark on all who experienced her artistry. Beyond her professional achievements, Amy was an avid runner, discovering the world through her running path. Her love and compassion extended to the free cats of Turkey, whom she cared for as her own. Amy was constantly searching for unique ways to make music with her surroundings, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Amy's warm smile, calm presence, and quiet grace were her trademarks. She was a friend to many and loved by all who had the privilege to know her. Her love of music knew no boundaries, and her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. Amy is survived by her loving partner, Efe Anakok; her devoted mother, Betty Jane Germ; her siblings, Michael Tisovic (Jani), Tina Kovach (Michael), Shannon Kolnsberg (Zack), and Justin Germ (Jamie); her dear aunt, Christine Nadrah; and her cousins, Laure Ferrante, Lynette Ruggiero (Michael), and Leonard Nadrah (Tammy). She also leaves behind her adored nieces and nephews, Hannah Kovach, Matthew Tisovic, Sophie Kovach, Sydney Kolnsberg, Halle Tisovic, Quinton Kolnsberg, Wyatt Kolnsberg, Olivia Kolnsberg, Austin Germ, and Gavin Germ. Amy was predeceased by her father, Edward Germ, and her uncle, Leonard Nadrah. A service to celebrate Amy's life will be held on August 4, 2026, at 18:00, at Krill Funeral Home, located at 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, OH 43506. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Amy's memory to an organization that reflects her love and passion for music or animal welfare. As we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, we hold tightly to the memories and the music Amy Terese Salsgiver shared with us. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift, just as she did in life.
