With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Amy Flecksteiner Smith, who departed this world on May 19, 2026, after a courageous and resilient battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in Rootstown, Ohio, on November 30, 1971, Amy was a beacon of light, kindness, and unwavering strength to all who knew her.
Amy was the cherished daughter of Frank and Betty Jeanne Flecksteiner. Though her father, Frank, and her beloved nephew, Robert Woolfgang Flecksteiner, have predeceased her, Amy’s enduring spirit and love will forever be carried on by her surviving family. Her devoted mother, Jeanne Flecksteiner, and her three brothers, Richard (Rachel), Robert (Jennifer), and David (Sherry), will continue to honor her memory with the same love and strength that she always showed them. Amy leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, each of whom has been touched by her warmth and generosity.
Growing up in Rootstown, Amy was a bright and diligent student, graduating with honors from Rootstown High School. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for learning led her to the University of Akron, where she furthered her education and created lifelong friendships. Amy’s academic achievements were a testament to her hard work and tenacity, qualities she carried throughout her life.
Amy’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and compassion. She possessed a remarkable ability to make those around her feel valued and loved, always ready to lend an empathetic ear or a helping hand. Her kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of friends and acquaintances with her gentle spirit and generous heart.
Despite the challenges she faced with her illness, Amy remained a symbol of courage and resilience. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations supporting Multiple Sclerosis research, in hopes of finding a cure for this relentless disease.
