Born on September 23, 1971, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was a beacon of joy and strength to all who knew her. On September 18, 2026, Amy left us unexpectedly, surrounded by her beloved family at home. Her passing leaves a profound void, but her spirit and legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
Amy was the cherished daughter of Tracy Kane and the late Thomas Folwick, and stepdaughter to the late Terry Kane and beloved mother-in-law, Deborah Burton. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Gordon and Isabelle Murphey, Floyd and Vivian Folwick, her cousin Jennifer Murphey, and her aunt Sandra Larson. Despite these losses, Amy's life was rich with fondness and joy, surrounded by her extensive and devoted family.
She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Freddie Burton Sr., and together they raised a loving family. Amy was the proud mother of Christopher (Stevie), Piper, Loraine, Aiyana, Damon, Rayshawn, Kevin, Desiree (Nia), Tatianna, Freddie Jr. (Ava), Hailey, Jasmin, and Zoe, embracing them
with an open heart.
Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys, and she delighted in spending time with her 11 grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Roland, Jaxson, Ma’Jari, Love, Yaceante, Lena, Freddie III, Vaya, Levi, and Ana.
Amy also left behind several siblings Reven, Ryan (Jennifer), Steven, Sonia (Thomas), Sherry, Aaron (Amber), and Angela (Matt), along with cousin Shannon (Zach) and many others, were integral parts of her life. Amy's family extended beyond those she was related to by blood.
A graduate of Robbinsdale Cooper High School in 1990, Amy went on to work in the healthcare system, dedicating many years to The U of M Fairview. Her career was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Amy had a love for adventure and creativity. She found joy in road trips with her family, exploring new places, and crafting beautiful art to adorn her home. Her quick wit and playful spirit brought laughter and warmth to every gathering. She was a pillar of honesty and support, always ready to lend a listening ear or share a candid piece of advice.
