May 11, 1953 — March 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Amos Hudson, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at his home in the early hours of March 10, 2026. Amos was surrounded by his cherished family as he succumbed to a long battle with a chronic intestinal illness. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and kindness will forever endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on May 11, 1953, in the close-knit community of Lagrange, Georgia, Amos was the cherished son of James and Sarah Hudson. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his dear brother, Willie Hudson. Amos's resilience and strength were nurtured in a family that valued hard work, integrity, and compassion. These values were evident throughout his life and career, shaping him into the remarkable man he became. A proud graduate of Lincoln High School in 1969, Amos pursued higher education with a passion that led him to earn a Master's Degree in Engineering. His commitment to learning and excellence was further exemplified during his distinguished service in the U.S. Army, from 1976 to 1989. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, Amos was honored with the Medal of Commendation for his exceptional dedication and leadership. Following his military service, Amos devoted 20 years to a fruitful career as a mechanical engineer at a prominent motor company. His expertise and mentorship left an indelible mark on both his peers and the wider community. Amos retired as a respected leader, known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his generous spirit and ability to inspire others. Beyond his career, Amos was a man of diverse interests and passions. An avid fisherman and bird watcher, he found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. His skillful hands crafted beautiful pieces of furniture, each one a reflection of his meticulous nature and love for woodworking. Amos was a longstanding and active member of First Baptist Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and a community that cherished him for over 30 years. Amos's life was a testament to the power of warmth and generosity. He had an unparalleled gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, his infectious smile brightening every room. His legacy of kindness, humility, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his surviving family: his devoted wife of 28 years, Brenda Hudson; his children, Keith Johnson and Kenya Watson; and his siblings, Rita Farrington, Shanita Hudson, and Bruce Hudson. The family will honor Amos's wish for a private funeral ceremony. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask that donations be made to the American Heart Association, a cause that was close to Amos's heart. As we say goodbye to Amos, we hold onto the cherished memories and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has offered their condolences and support. Amos will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and resilience. "Forever in our Hearts."
