In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Amora Giselle McGriff, a radiant star who graced the world on February 13, 2017, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Amora departed this world far too soon on April 13, 2026, after bravely battling type 1 diabetes for four years. Though her time with us was brief, her impact was profound and her spirit unforgettable.
Amora was a cherished daughter to her loving parents, Tajaia Pittman and Michael McGriff, who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Her boundless joy and vibrant spirit live on through her siblings, Arianna, Kashton, and Seven McGriff, who shared in her laughter and adventures. She was the beloved granddaughter of Tenaya and Jerome (Dooney) Mills, and Daniel McGriff and Jennifer King. Amora was also a treasured great-granddaughter to Warfield West ("Papa") and Pamela Kelelyo, and a dear niece to her aunts, Paris Lucas, Ahlayna Mills, Toniq Lucas, and her uncle, Jamier Coleman. Her cousins, Levon Breazeale, Kyrie Breazeale, Jaceion Cunningham, and Ayona Gonzalez, will always remember the joy she brought into their lives.
A bright and spirited fourth grader at Bruns Avenue Elementary, Amora embraced life with an enthusiasm that was contagious. She was the embodiment of a girly girl, with a deep love for all things pink. Her creativity knew no bounds, finding expression through her love of dance. With dreams of starting a TikTok channel, she longed to share her gift of dance with the world, especially with her beloved mother by her side.
Amora had a unique talent for storytelling, infusing every tale with her vivid imagination and lively voice. Her ability to turn even the simplest story into an unforgettable adventure was truly remarkable. Recently, she discovered a love for crocheting, excitedly planning all the wonderful creations her nimble fingers would bring to life.
In the kitchen, Amora had her favorites, delighting in the comfort of macaroni and ravioli. Her endearing way of calling strawberries "strawbabies" will forever bring smiles to those who knew her.
Though her journey on earth was brief, Amora's light shone brightly, reflecting in the hearts of everyone she touched. Her family will hold a private ceremony to honor her life, cherishing the precious memories she left behind.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Levine Children’s Hospital for their unwavering support and compassion throughout Amora's journey.
While words cannot fully capture the essence of Amora's spirit, we find solace in the legacy of love, creativity, and joy she leaves behind. Her story is not one of sadness, but rather a celebration of a beautiful life that touched us all. Amora Giselle McGriff will forever be remembered and cherished, her spirit eternally dancing through the hearts of those who loved her.
