It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Amina Abdul Rahim, who departed this life peacefully in her sleep on February 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on December 15, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Amina lived a life rich in love, resilience, and service to others.
Amina was the beloved daughter of Benjamin Brown and Florence Anderson, both of whom predeceased her, along with her four brothers, Joe Brown, Stanley Anderson, Ronald Anderson, and Shahid Abdul Rahim. Despite the early losses in her life, Amina's spirit remained unyielding and her heart open, always finding strength in her family and faith.
Amina's journey in education began at Dobbins Technical School, where she graduated in 1960. Her thirst for knowledge and determination to succeed led her to pursue higher education, achieving a Master's degree in Business Management from both LaSalle University and Temple University. Her professional life saw her starting as a seamstress, a testament to her hardworking nature and a job that instilled in her the values of diligence and perseverance. She later embarked on a successful career in business, working at ARA Services before making significant contributions at Digital Equipment Corporation, a role that took her to new places and experiences.
In 1982, Amina found love and companionship with Louis Cameron, with whom she shared a life full of joy and mutual support. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, and Amina is survived by her cherished children, daughter Karima Abdul Rahim and son Rafiq Abdul Rahim. Her legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values she instilled in her family.
Amina had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed the elegance of tennis, the thrill of boxing, and the unity of the Olympics. Her family fondly remembers her enthusiasm for game shows and her entrepreneurial spirit in selling herbal remedies, a passion that brought her joy and connected her to her community.
Amina's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her sisters, Barbara Anderson and Anjeanette Pough, will continue to honor her memory, cherishing the bond they shared.
