October 13, 1947 — June 17, 2026
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Amelia Russ Schulkins, who left us peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on October 13, 1947, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Amelia was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and resilience, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Amelia was the beloved daughter of the late Basil and Doris Russ, who instilled in her a deep sense of family and community. She was predeceased by her cherished parents and her dear brothers, Fran and Jake, whom she loved dearly.
Amelia's legacy continues through her devoted daughters, Tammy and Sherry, who were the light of her life. Her love and guidance extended to her grandchildren, Ashley and Hunter, and she eagerly anticipated the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Alivia, Ashtyn, and Avalynne, due in September. Amelia is also survived by her loving sisters, Renee (Brad), Jan (Ken), and Gina (Gary), who shared countless memories and adventures with her throughout the years.
A proud alumna of Bishop McDevitt, Amelia carried her education with her into a vibrant career. She initially brought smiles to many as she worked in the snack bar at ABC West Lanes and Lounge, where her friendly demeanor and infectious laughter were as much a staple as the snacks she served. Later, she found fulfillment as a stocker at Walmart in Mechanicsburg, where she retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and camaraderie.
Amelia's passions extended beyond her career. She was an ardent fan of sprint car racing, a love that brought her immense joy and excitement. She particularly cherished the moments she spent supporting her niece, Nicole Bower, at races, where her cheers were as enthusiastic as they were heartfelt.
Amelia's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of family. She was a cornerstone in the lives of those she held dear, offering unwavering support, love, and wisdom. Her enduring spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Breast Cancer organization, a cause close to Amelia's heart, reflecting her enduring compassion and desire to help others.
As we remember Amelia, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. She leaves behind a legacy of love and grace that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
