December 6, 1946 — June 28, 2026

It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Alvester Vaughan Jr., who departed this world on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 6, 1946, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, Alvester's journey through life was marked by devotion, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family and faith. Alvester was the beloved son of the late Sally Newsome, and brother to Virginia Mitchell, who both predeceased him. He cherished the memories of his formative years spent in their loving embrace, which shaped the compassionate and dedicated man he became. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 43 years, Patricia Vaughan, who stood by his side as a partner in love and life. Together, they nurtured a family filled with warmth and affection. From their union came two cherished children: Alvena Jones and Isaac Vaughan. Alvester also lovingly adopted Patricia's firstborn son, Michael Vaughan, raising him proudly as his own. Alvester's legacy of love extends further through his first marriage, from which he was blessed with four more children: Anthony Frederick Vaughan, Mechelle Bailey, Ann Vaughan, and Robert Vaughan, whom he also adopted. Each of these children carries forward the values and lessons imparted by their father. His life was further enriched by his 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He embraced each one with open arms and a heart full of love, ensuring that his wisdom and kindness would resonate through generations. Following a distinguished career at the shipyard, where he served for 30 years, Alvester embarked on a new journey as a minister, dedicating his life to working for the Lord and spreading His gospel. His faith was a guiding light, inspiring all who knew him to live with compassion and integrity. Alvester's life was not only a testament to his devotion to family and faith but also to his wider community. He is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, in-laws, and cherished friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Alvester's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit of giving and his lifelong commitment to helping others. As we bid farewell to Alvester Vaughan Jr., we celebrate a life that was rich in love and fulfilled by service. May his soul find eternal peace, knowing that his legacy of love endures in the hearts of all those he touched.
