In Loving Memory

Alverta Forgenia Alexander
August 24, 1939 — July 23, 2026
Alverta Alexander was a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother. She passed away peacefully in Baltimore Maryland on July 23, 2026. She was born Alverta Forgenia Somerville to Elijah Somerville and Frances Day Somerville in Baltimore Maryland and grew up in Annapolis and Severna Park surrounded by family and friends.
Alverta graduated from Bates High School and worked for many years as a housekeeper and/or babysitter for several physicians. She enjoyed collecting dolls, babysitting, cooking, and dancing. She was well known for holding large family gatherings and being the life of the party. Even at the “young” age of 84, she was dancing. I remember telling her to be careful, because she might not get up, her famous reply to me was” I get down and I get up.” Evidently, she was right. Roughly, 3 months later when she had to go to a nursing home for rehabilitation, she was partying with other patients and known for her dancing.
Alverta is survived by her children: Clifton, Edward, and Faith (Faye) Parker, Michael Alexander, and daughters-in-law, Deborah Parker and Barbara Sommerville (Harris) Additionally, she is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Warren Marvin Sommerville, her husbands, Warren Parker and Joseph Alexander, seven siblings, and her parents.
