Alven Marie Walker

Alven Marie Walker, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed from this world on April 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on August 28, 1970, in the heart of Houston, Texas, Alven's life was a beautiful testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. Alven was the beloved daughter of the late Martha Ann Walker and Edward Lee Walker. Her early years were filled with the warmth and guidance of her family, including her dear stepfather, Sam McCardell, and her beloved grandmother, Georgia Hayward. These foundational influences shaped Alven into the nurturing and compassionate soul known to all who met her. In later years, Alven found her soulmate in Cedrick Alfred, with whom she shared over 17 years of a loving marriage. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and a shared commitment to family. Their bond was a beacon of joy and strength, one that embraced not only their children but extended warmly to many others who found a place in Alven's heart. Alven's life was enriched by her children: her daughters Antanique, Antonasia, Nevaeh, and Lazoria, and her sons Anthony, Mario, and Jonathan, the latter two whom she now joins in eternal rest. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she raised and influenced many nieces, nephews, and others who were welcomed into her life as her own. A woman of unparalleled warmth, Alven was known for her vibrant personality, her ability to bring joy to any gathering, and her remarkable way of making everyone feel like family. Her home was a sanctuary, always open to those in need, and her heart was a wellspring of generosity and kindness. Whether it was through her infectious laughter, her love for music and dancing, or her talent for a spirited game of spades, Alven brought a unique sparkle to every moment. Alven leaves behind a rich legacy through her devoted husband, Cedrick; her loving daughters and son; her cherished grandsons, Lamar and Kemarion; her godson, Marvalous; her sisters, Eddie, Tressa, Domonike, and Taura; her brothers, Sam and Edward; and a vast extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. Our beloved Alven now joins those who predeceased her: her parents, stepfather, grandmother, sons, and sister Vernon. In the embrace of the heavens, she is reunited with those she loved and missed deeply. Services to celebrate Alven's extraordinary life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the New Beginning Church, located at 10921 Foy Ln, Houston, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of a woman who was truly one of a kind, a beacon of love and joy to all who were blessed to know her. Alven Marie Walker, affectionately known as "Sweet Meat Marie," will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
