Alva Annette Walston
September 13, 1945 ā June 29, 2026
Alva Annette Walston was born on September 13, 1945 to the late Alvah Jerome Walston, Sr. and Yvonne Chester Walston.
On Monday, June 29th, she departed this earthly life to reside in her heavenly home.
Alva was educated in the Philadelphia school system and graduated in 1963 from John Bartram HS. She later pursued her education Peirce Business School and Wharton Business School. Her career later took shape as she worked for the United States State Department in the Passport Agency for 40 years. She proudly retired in 2006 (her passport was stamped!)
She enjoyed several hobbies which included sewing, crocheting, jewelry making, bowling, volunteering (Manna, Habitat for Humanity) traveling and shopping. Alva was also a member of Star Harbor Senior Center of Philadelphia , PA and South East Delco Ruby Red Hatters #10338 of Sharon Hill, PA.
She was a member of James Varick AME Zion church and served in several capacities: as a youth she was active in various programs. As an adult she sang with the Senior and Gospel choirs, Director of Children, President of Young Adult Christian Usher Board, original member of The Daughters of Miriam praise dance team, member of the Women's Homes and Overseas Missionary Society. With Hall United Methodist of Glen Burnie, MD she volunteered with Vacation Bible School.
Her utmost joy was sending cards to family and friends on every occasion. She would never forget your birthday.
Alva is preceded in death by her parents, Alvah J. Walston, Sr. and Yvonne C. Walston; three sisters, Rose Marie Nelson, Doris Jean (William Arthur) Johnson, and Yvonne Chester (Wardell) Williams; and one brother, Aubrey C. Chester. Her surviving siblings, twin sister, Arleathea J. Hackett and one brother, Alvah J. Walston (Dorothy).
She is survived by her two daughters, Natalie I. Walston and Annette C. Noelcin (Roman). Her grandchildren, Amanda Walston, Amaree Mayo and Aiden Noelcin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was extended and expressed her kindness and love to Marina Katsnelson, MD, Todd Fleischman, DMD, Jennifer Davis (Jamie, Quincy and Destiny), Brandon Beaver(Nina and Micki), Courtney Holcomb and Gwen Tunnell and Jolly
