It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Althea Nalls, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on May 31, 2026. Born on July 25, 1959, in the iconic city of Niagara Falls, Althea was a beacon of light and love in the lives of all those fortunate enough to know her. Althea was the cherished daughter of the late Dock Handley and Sallie Mae Ivey. She was predeceased by her parents and her dear siblings, Cornelius Ivey, Richard Handley, Michael Ivey, and Gwen Ivey, whose memories she held close to her heart throughout her life. In 1980, Althea married the love of her life, Frankie Nalls, in a ceremony that marked the beginning of over 47 years filled with love, laughter, and companionship. Together, they built a nurturing home, raising four devoted sons Frankie Jr. (Lauren), Cornell (Melissa), Isaiah (Rachel), and Garfield (Marissa) and warmly embracing their god-daughters Lakisha (Jonathan) Taylor and Nicole (Arnold) Leftwich as their own. Althea's legacy of love extends deeply into the lives of her ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Althea cherishes her special Friends Christine (Todd) Seals and Sandra Limpkin. Althea's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication and compassion. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1978 and went on to earn her CNA license, later achieving a Doctorate in Flower & Gardening, a testament to her dual passions for caregiving and nature. Her professional life was dedicated to serving others, beginning with Family and Children Services, followed by her impactful tenure at The Community Mission of Niagara Falls. Althea retired after 30 years as a valued employee at Opportunities Unlimited, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and commitment. A devoted member of Christ Redemption Tabernacle, Althea was a familiar and friendly face at the church, where she not only attended services but also contributed her culinary skills on the kitchen committee. Her faith was a source of strength, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and resilience. Althea was known far and wide for her quick wit and warm smile, traits that endeared her to everyone she met. She possessed a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her generosity touched the lives of many. Outside of her professional and spiritual commitments, she found joy in gardening, eagerly hunting for garage sale treasures, and collecting rocks. Above all, Althea cherished the moments spent with her family, whether sharing stories or enjoying the simple pleasure of being together. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and specialists at Strong Memorial Hospital for their unwavering dedication and care over the years. Their compassion and expertise have been a source of comfort and strength for Althea and her loved ones. A celebration of Althea's remarkable life will be held on May 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Redemption Tabernacle, located at 123 Niagara Street. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love. In honoring Althea's memory, let us remember her vibrant spirit, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire us all.
