Obituary of Alta Sue Parrish Alta Sue Parrish, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 11, 2026, at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on January 17, 1945, in Dublin, Virginia, Sue was the cherished daughter of the late Frank and Marie Tickle. She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Betty Lou Vance. Sue's life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 57 years, Murrell L. Parrish, Sr., who stood by her side through life's many seasons. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. She is survived by her children, who were her pride and joy: Tammy M. Wonder, Murrell L. Parrish, Jr., and Charles F. Parrish. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren—Ashley Parrish, Brittany Carter and her husband Kevin, Kristen Parrish, Amanda Funk and her husband Garrett, Samantha Stack and her husband Nate, and C.J. Parrish—as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Brantley Funk, Wynter Penny, Ryder Pardon, and Palmer Slack. She is also survived by her dear sister, Joann Vance. Sue's professional journey was marked by a spirit of dedication and excellence. Her career began with the Mid Atlantic Toyota Parts Division, where her attention to detail and energetic nature shone brightly. Later, she found joy and fulfillment as the Activity Director at Treasure Beach Camp Ground and served as the Center Director for Open Door before and after school care, where she touched the lives of many young hearts. A woman of unwavering commitment, Sue poured her heart and soul into her community. She served as the Events Director and Kitchen Manager for the VFW 2462, a role in which her talents and passion for service were felt by all. As President of the Popar Ridge Senior Club, she led with grace and warmth, bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging. Sue's zest for life was evident in everything she did. She found joy in the simple pleasures, like tending to her garden, where her love for nature blossomed. Her quick wit and warm smile were her trademarks, lighting up rooms and lifting spirits wherever she went. She thrived in the company of family, especially during cherished gatherings at Post Bull Roasts and Crab Feasts. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the many friends and family members who offered prayers and support during Sue's illness and after her passing. Their kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength, and they will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Alta Sue Parrish will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her boundless love for her family, and her invaluable contributions to her community.
