In Loving Memory

Alpha dyer
July 7, 1930 — June 9, 2026
Alpha Dyer, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on July 7, 1930, in the rolling hills of West Virginia, she was the daughter of Oscar and Mary Gurth, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her cherished son, Donald; her loving husband, Oscar; her dear sister, Geraldine; and her brother, Wayne.
Alpha’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and laughter. She married the love of her life, Oscar, on July 9, 1948. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a partnership filled with warmth and devotion until Oscar’s passing. Alpha was a dedicated and loving mother to her daughter, Carol Garner, who survives her and carries forward Alpha's legacy of kindness and grace.
Throughout her life, Alpha found joy in the simple pleasures. She had an extraordinary talent for making crafts and a passion for gardening, where she could often be found with her hands in the earth, nurturing life and beauty. Her gardens flourished under her care, much like the family she cherished so deeply.
In her professional life, Alpha retired from RCA and Marsh, where she was admired for her diligence and friendly demeanor. Her colleagues remember her for her quick wit and warm smile, attributes that endeared her to everyone she met. Alpha's humor and grace were constants in her life, shining brightly through both challenges and triumphs.
Alpha’s family was her pride and joy. She was blessed with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, stories, and the aroma of her homemade treats. Alpha had a unique ability to make each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel special and deeply loved.
In honoring Alpha’s spirit, her family kindly requests donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association. A memorial fund, named in her honor as the Alpha Dyer Memorial Fund, has been established to continue supporting causes close to her heart.
Alpha’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and an enduring sense of humor. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her in their hearts, and a community that remembers her fondly. Though she has left this world, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she created.
A celebration of Alpha’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to reminisce and honor a life well-lived. Until then, Alpha’s family invites those who knew her to remember her in their own unique ways, cherishing the warm smile and quick wit that made her so unforgettable.
