Alonso Gallego, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 9, 2026, in Medellin, Colombia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 4, 1940, in the picturesque town of Santo Domingo, Antioquia, Colombia, Alonso lived a life full of warmth, adventure, and kindness. Alonso was a man whose quick wit and warm smile could light up any room. Known for being the life of the party, he had a remarkable gift for storytelling that captivated his audience and made every gathering memorable. His ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued was a testament to his generous spirit and kind heart. He pursued higher education at Farmingdale College, which laid the foundation for a successful career as an Export Sales Manager with Connell Rice & Sugar Co. in Westfield, New Jersey. His dedication and hard work were admired by colleagues and clients alike, and his professional accomplishments were a source of pride for his family. Alonso shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Angela Gallego. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, raising a beautiful family that includes their children, Khrystina Gallego, Kathya Holohan, Sandra DosSantos, and their nephew Jamie Gallego, whom they loved as their own. Alonso also cherished his role as a grandfather to Alexandra, Annessa, Kyra, Kamryn, Michael Jude, and Marco, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. A service to celebrate Alonso's life will be held on October 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Saint Philip & James Catholic Church, located at 428 South Main Street, Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the extraordinary life of a man who touched the hearts of so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Alonso's generous nature and his desire to help others. Alonso Gallego will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
