Almia Gray

Almia Gray, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on September 11, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on October 16, 1942, in Sacramento, California, Almia lived a life filled with love, compassion, and devotion to those around her. Almia was the daughter of Franklin R. Grays and Darlene Edwards, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Avery Sharp Sr., and her three sons, Aaron, Avery Jr., and Artie Sharp. Together, Almia and Avery built a beautiful life, sharing over three decades of marriage and raising a wonderful family. Avery's service in the military was a source of pride for Almia, who supported him throughout his career and beyond. A remarkable woman, Almia was known for her selflessness and unwavering support for others. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel special, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire those she left behind. Almia is survived by her three devoted daughters: Kathleen Grays, married to James; Vanessa Drew, married to Michael; and Sharon Sterling, married to Kenneth. Her family also includes 14 treasured grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Almia's special friend, Loretta Timmons, was a constant source of comfort and companionship, and her presence was deeply valued by Almia and her family. In her final years, Almia bravely battled breast cancer, displaying the same strength and grace that she carried throughout her life. Her family takes solace in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones who passed before her. Almia's family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory, celebrating her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Almia Gray's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
