She was predeceased by her cherished family member, Gennis, and leaves behind a legacy of enduring love and warm memories. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her surviving family, including her dear Fannie Evonne, and through the laughter and accomplishments of her 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In her professional life, Almetia found her calling as a nurse, dedicating her career to caring for others with a kind and steady hand. Her commitment to her patients showcased her innate ability to heal and comfort, a testament to her nurturing nature. Almetia was married to her loving partner, Richmond Washington, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and love. Together, they built a home filled with dance and the delicious aroma of home-cooked meals. Her love for dancing and cooking was infectious, and her kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings, where laughter and joy were abundant. Those who knew Almetia will remember her as outspoken and strong, a woman who played no games and who loved her grandchildren deeply. A service to celebrate Almetia's extraordinary life will be held on October 23, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Berry. Friends and family are invited to gather in memory of a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Almetia's memory, a cause close to her heart, in support of their tireless work.
