Alma Wilkerson

May 3, 1947 — May 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alma Wilkerson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on May 3, 2026, her 79th birthday. Alma departed this world surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle against an illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Born on May 3, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, Alma was the cherished daughter of the late Willie and Daisy Council. From a young age, she embodied a spirit of generosity and warmth that would define her life. Her welcoming smile and ability to make everyone feel valued were hallmarks of her character, endearing her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. In 1965, Alma embarked on a journey of love and partnership with Sylvester Wilkerson, her devoted husband of 61 years. Together, they built a family rooted in love, respect, and shared joy. Alma's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she became a beacon of hospitality and warmth to her community, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and a helping hand to those in need. Alma's love for farming and her cherished farm animals, particularly her chickens and ducks, was a testament to her appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Her farm was not only a place of work but a sanctuary of peace and happiness, where she found solace and joy. Her life was a tapestry woven with the love of her surviving family: her husband Sylvester, her daughter Angela Y. Wilkerson and her husband Charles, her three sons, Alvin Wilkerson Jr. and his wife Josephine, Ricky Wilkerson Sr. and his wife Tamela, and Micheal Wilkerson and his wife Michele. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts. Alma was predeceased by her beloved parents, Willie and Daisy, and her son, Alvester Wilkerson, whom she now joins in eternal rest. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit and the lessons she imparted will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her. In accordance with Alma's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of kindness and support during this difficult time. Alma's life was a testament to the power of love, and her memory will forever remain a guiding light for those she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Alma's memory by extending a hand of kindness to someone in need, as she did countless times throughout her life. May we all strive to bring a fraction of the warmth and generosity that Alma shared with the world. Rest in peace, dear Alma. Your legacy of love will forever be cherished.
