Born on January 25, 1933, in the gentle surroundings of Mississippi, Alma was the daughter of Earlie and Hendretta McGill, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable woman she became.
Alma's life was a testament to resilience, grace, and unwavering love. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, Earlie and Hendretta, her beloved sons Rodney and Larry Hughes, and her precious granddaughter, Courtney Salters. Despite these profound losses, Alma's spirit never wavered, and she continued to be the embodiment of strength for her family and friends.
She is survived by a loving family who adored her deeply. Her daughters, Carolyn Salters and her husband John, Irma Moore, and Gwendolyn Chatman, carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Her sons, Earl and Micheal Hughes, continue to honor her memory through their lives and actions. Alma also leaves behind her dear sister, Earline Webber, who shared countless memories and moments of joy with her.
