In Loving Memory

Allen Russell King
November 3, 1954 — May 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Allen Russell King, on May 12, 2026. Born on November 3, 1954, Allen left us while in the gentle embrace of sleep at the Agape Hospice House in Forest City, after valiantly facing a grueling battle with cancer. He was 71 years old.
Allen was the beloved son of Juanita, who predeceased him, as did his cherished grandson, Jayson Tyler. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, embodied by his devoted wife of 34 years, Denise King. Together, since their marriage on March 23, 1992, in Gastonia, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and family, raising six children: Russell King and Fawn Smullin, Robert King and Kelly, Crystal Tyler and Michael, Amy Weaver Adams, Jennifer Weaver, and Christopher Weaver.
Allen's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was adored by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His spirit lives on in his siblings, Gary King, Jeffrey King, Sherry King, and Kay, who shared many moments of laughter and love with him.
Professionally, Allen was a master of his craft, working for many years as a lead mechanic at Pitney Bowes copier company. His remarkable aptitude with small motors led him to establish his own business, Kooler Dude, specializing in water fountain repair services. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication were admired by all who knew him.
In addition to his career, Allen was an active member of his community. He served as a Sunday school teacher at the Church of God in Arkansas, instilling faith and values in many young hearts. His passion for mentoring extended to coaching baseball and leading scout groups, always driven by a commitment to nurturing the potential of future generations. His selfless spirit was evident in his volunteer work, including a memorable 68-hour hunger event to benefit Galena Park.
Allen's personal life was rich with hobbies and interests that brought him joy and tranquility. An avid fisherman, he cherished time on the water with his family, and he found freedom on the open road during his motorcycle rides, up until his first cancer surgery in May 2018. Known for his loving instruction and playful political banter, Allen's presence was a source of warmth and laughter for all who knew him. He treasured the simple pleasures of life, including cooking out and savoring the occasional cherry tobacco in his pipe.
A celebration of Allen's life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Christ Community Church, located at 3951 W Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052. The family invites all who loved Allen to join them in honoring his remarkable journey and the indelible mark he left on the world.
The King family extends their deepest gratitude to Foothills Hospice House in Forest City for their compassionate care in Allen’s final days. Special thanks also go to Candy Skidmore and Marie Roberts for their support and assistance while he was at home.
As we say goodbye to Allen, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
