Allen Grey, MD
April 19, 1959 — March 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Allen Grey, who departed this world on March 15, 2026, at the age of 66, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 19, 1959, in Pittsburgh, PA, Allen was a beacon of light, warmth, and wisdom whose legacy will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
Allen was the beloved son of the late Dr. Howard Grey and Dr. Hilda Grey, PhD. He shared his childhood with his brothers, the late Harry Grey and his surviving brother Stuart Grey. From an early age, Allen demonstrated an insatiable curiosity and a profound intellect that would shape his journey through life.
He graduated with honors from Smoky Hill High School and pursued higher education with zeal, attending Colorado College and later, the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Utah School of Medicine and further, to the University of Iowa, where he completed his residency in ophthalmology.
For thirty years, Allen dedicated his life to the service of others as a respected ophthalmologist in Grand Junction, CO. His compassionate care and commitment to his patients were a testament to his character, and he left an indelible mark on the community he served.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Allen was a man of many passions. An avid deep-sea fisherman, he cherished his time in the vast, open waters of Alaska, sharing countless adventures with his brother, best friends, and family. His love for the great outdoors extended to hiking and camping, where he found peace and solace amidst nature's embrace.
Allen's wanderlust led him across the globe on numerous overseas vacations with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. His laughter and sense of humor were infectious, and he was as much celebrated for his intellect as for his ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him.
Above all, Allen was a devoted father to his children, Sophie, Hannah, and Will Grey, and a loving father-in-law to Kaitlyn Grey. He cherished every moment spent with his family and felt immense gratitude for the life they built together.
Allen's journey through life was one of love, laughter, and learning. He embraced each day with courage and a deep appreciation for the world around him. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
In honoring Allen's memory, we remember a life well-lived, a man deeply loved, and a legacy that will endure through the lives he touched. His family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Allen's life at a memorial service to be held [details to be provided].
