It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Claire Richards, who departed this world peacefully at his home on June 4, 2026, in the loving presence of his cherished wife, Jane. Born on February 6, 1953, in the picturesque town of Traverse City, Michigan, Allen was a beacon of light and love, whose warmth touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Allen was the beloved son of Jack Allen Richards and Wanda Lou (Reams) Richards. He was predeceased by his first wife, Maxlyn Richards, his son, Allen J. Richards, and his brother, Harold Richards. Despite these profound losses, Allen's life was a testament to resilience and the enduring power of love and family.
On August 7, 1998, Allen married the love of his life, Jane Young, in Traverse City, Michigan. Together, they blended their families, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Allen's legacy lives on in his surviving family: his devoted wife of 27 years, Jane; his children, Tracy (Dwane) Eldridge, Kari Richards, Erin (Chuck) Raschi, Channon (Tom) Durga, Jenny (David) Gale, Bryan Neihardt, and Becky (Mike) Craven; his sisters, Renee Pickard and Lou Ann Zelenak; his 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Allen's boundless love and spirit.
A man of many talents and interests, Allen was known for his quick wit and his gift for making everyone feel welcome. His persistent and affectionate nature, combined with his penchant for humor and pranks, endeared him to all who met him. Allen was passionate about sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman, delighting in the beauty and challenge of the great outdoors. His dedication to community was evident through his involvement with organizations like Sertoma and several bowling associations.
Allen's family extends their deepest gratitude to all who touched his life and enriched it with friendship and love. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Allen's memory.
In reflecting on Allen's life, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on so many.
