It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alison Catherine "Tootie" Straughter Ross, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Alison departed this life peacefully at her home on September 21, 2026, enveloped in the love of her family. Born on November 10, 1967, in Albany, Georgia, Alison was a beacon of kindness, strength, and compassion. Alison was the cherished daughter of Mr. Robert Hodge and Ms. Dorothy Straughter. She grew up in a close-knit family, surrounded by the love and guidance of her parents and siblings, which laid the foundation for the nurturing and caring woman she became. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of her church community, where she found solace and strength. On October 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM, family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at the Kingdom Life Fellowship Church, located at 405 1st Street, Albany, Georgia. Alison’s life will be honored with a service that reflects her deep faith and the joy she brought into the lives of those she touched. Alison is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Ross, who stood by her side through all of life’s joys and challenges. Together they created a home filled with laughter and love, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. She was the proud and loving mother of her daughter, Braelynn Vance, who will carry forward her mother’s legacy of compassion and resilience. Alison is also survived by her brothers, Karl Straughter (Teresa “Gay”), James Hodge, and Dathan Hodge of Albany, Georgia; Marlon Hodge of Stockbridge, Georgia; and sisters, Donna Canada (Hugh, Sr.) of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, and Genoa Jackson (Dale) of Atlanta, Georgia. Her extended family includes ten nephews, seven nieces, and a multitude of friends and church family members who were touched by her kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Alison’s spirit of giving and her commitment to helping those in need. Alison’s warmth, grace, and unwavering spirit will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.
