It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alisha Mae Shorty, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who left us far too soon on June 6, 2026, at the tender age of 20. Born on November 3, 2005, in the United States, Alisha was a radiant light in the lives of those who knew her. Her sudden departure, resulting from a tragic vehicle crash alongside her cherished partner, has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and community. Alisha was the beloved daughter of Allison Shorty and Laura Emerson, who raised her with love and care, nurturing her vibrant spirit and warm heart. She was a devoted sister to Laureal, Marcus, Tristan, and Xavier Shorty, each of whom she adored deeply. Her bond with her siblings was one of the cornerstones of her life, as she found immense joy in their company, sharing laughter and creating cherished memories together. In addition to her immediate family, Alisha is survived by her boyfriend of three years, Leon Yazzie. Their love was a testament to the warmth and kindness that Alisha embodied. She and Leon shared a deep connection, built on mutual respect and affection, and his presence brought immense joy to her life. Alisha's educational journey culminated with her graduation from Ganado High School in 2026, a milestone she achieved with pride and determination. Her time at school was marked by her infectious humor and her ability to lift the spirits of those around her, even on the most challenging of days. Alisha's love for life was reflected in her many passions. She was an adventurous soul, always eager to explore new cuisines and travel to new places. Her visits to see her older sister, Laureal, were among her most treasured adventures, as they allowed her to combine her love for family and travel. Known for her incredible sense of humor and loving nature, Alisha had an unmatched ability to brighten any room. Her laughter was contagious, and her generous spirit touched everyone she met. She was the kind of person who could find light in darkness, bringing comfort and happiness to those having a tough day. In accordance with her family's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Alisha's life, allowing those closest to her to celebrate her memory in a personal and intimate setting. Alisha Mae Shorty will be remembered not only for her kindness and laughter but also for the love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will hold her memory dear forever.
