Alice Wilson
November 4, 1934 — August 14, 2026
Alice Wilson, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love and care of her devoted daughter Sherry and her dear friend Grover. Born on November 4, 1934, in the serene countryside of Perquimans County, North Carolina, Alice was the beloved daughter of Ralph and Edith Haskett Proctor.
Alice's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a profound appreciation for the simple joys. She graduated from Perquimans High School and found fulfillment and joy in her work as a bookkeeper at the Virginia Beach School Bus Garage. Her dedication was evident in her daily life, and she took great pride in her work, touching the lives of many colleagues and friends along the way.
A true lover of nature, Alice found joy in the tranquility of her covered patio, where she spent countless hours in the company of birds and squirrels, her heart warmed by the vibrant beauty of fresh ferns and flowers she nurtured each spring. Her laughter was a gentle balm, and her conversations with family and high-school friends were treasured moments that will be deeply missed.
Alice was preceded in death by her brother, William Proctor, her sister, Shirley June Proctor, her daughter, Carolyn Ruth, and her grandson, Benjamin Williams. Her legacy lives on through her surviving children: Janice Womack of Suffolk, Virginia, Marilyn Joan Ruth of Suffolk, Virginia, and Sherry Owens of Newport News, Virginia. She also leaves behind a loving legacy in her seven grandchildren: Tiffany Gough of Dumfries, Virginia, Brandon Ruth of Suffolk, Virginia, Hans Geblinger of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Alice Laine Edwards of Franklin, Virginia, Lee Bradshaw of Franklin, Virginia, and Amber Bradshaw of Franklin, Virginia, as well as five cherished great-grandchildren.
A service to honor and celebrate Alice’s life will be held on August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Rosewood Kellum, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Grover who waked into her life 5 years ago and was with her no matter the distance traveled to see her. He brought her flowers each week and held her hand till her last breath. Thank you Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate and dedicated care they provided to Alice, ensuring her final days were filled with comfort and dignity. Alice Wilson will forever be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
