In Loving Memory
Alice Rioux
June 21, 1941 — May 6, 2026
It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Alice Rioux, a remarkable woman whose laughter and warmth touched the lives of many. Alice peacefully departed this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 84, in the embrace of her family and friends. She succumbed to pneumonia and inflammation, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, and unwavering faith.
Born on June 21, 1941, in Temple, Texas, Alice was the cherished daughter of Gregorio and Severa Valdez. Her early years were spent weaving through the vibrant tapestry of family life, a tapestry that she would continue to enrich throughout her own journey. She was predeceased by Louie Solis Sr., her mother Severa, beloved Daddy George, Uncle Mark, and her dear Lady, who now welcome her with open arms in the eternal embrace of the afterlife.
Alice was educated in California, attending 17th Street School in Westminster and graduating from Huntington Beach High School. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for caring led her to Brynam College, where she pursued a career in nursing, a testament to her innate compassion and dedication to helping others.
In her professional life, Alice contributed her talents and energy to various roles. She worked for over two decades at Computer Automation in Irvine, brightened the lives of many at the drive-in movies, served diligently at CR&R Waste Management, and brought her unique blend of discipline and humor to Heritage Elementary as a beloved lunch lady.
Alice's personal life was rich with love and adventure. She was blessed with the companionship of several partners throughout her journey: Mr. Duran, Atanacio Hernandez, Baudelio Esquivias, and Donald Rioux, with whom she shared the role of eucharistic minister at Saint Barbara's ministry. Together, they were pillars of their community, spreading kindness and faith to all they met.
She leaves behind a devoted family, including Susie and David Duran, Carlos Duran, and Gloria Kelly, who carry forward her legacy. Alice's heart was immense, and its echoes can be found in her 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and inspired with her quick wit and loving spirit.
Alice's humor was legendary; she was known for her quick one-liner comebacks and her playful antics, like pretending to flip off bad drivers while maintaining her own slow, careful pace. Her laughter was a balm in times of sorrow and a beacon of joy in times of celebration.
A service to honor Alice's extraordinary life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 10:10 AM at Saint Barbara Catholic Church. It will be a time to remember, to mourn, and to celebrate the indelible mark she left on us all.
In a special message, her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Yorkshire Village for treating Alice with love and compassion, providing her with a place that felt like home in her final days.
As we bid farewell to Alice, let us remember her as she was: a beacon of light, a source of joy, and a testament to the power of love and laughter. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
