Alice Pat Kanive
January 1, 1941 — March 28, 2026
Alice Pat Kanive, a cherished soul whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Her journey began on January 1, 1941, when she was born to Lester and Beulah Morris in the quaint town of Whitesboro, Texas.
Alice was a woman of immense warmth and generosity, whose spirit was as vibrant as the Texas sun under which she was raised. Growing up in Whitesboro, she was surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings, Ronald and David Durrett, and her sisters, Donna Reed, Paula Norton, and Cindy Duncan. Her childhood was filled with laughter and unity, experiences that shaped her into the nurturing matriarch she later became.
In 1960, Alice married the love of her life, Bert Kanive. Together, they built a home filled with love and acceptance, a sanctuary for their three cherished daughters, Lissa Fisher, Carrie Lang, and Glenda Francis. Alice and Bert shared a beautiful partnership for 50 years until Bert’s passing, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Her devotion to her family knew no bounds, and her legacy is carried forth in the lives of her daughters, her grandsons Jeffrey McPeak, Cory Wolfe, and Dillon Kanive, and her two precious great-grandchildren.
Alice was not just a devoted wife and mother; she was a woman of many talents and passions. Her love for gardening was matched only by her culinary skills, and her home was always filled with the aroma of fresh blooms and delicious meals. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, a trait that endeared her to all who knew her. Her laughter was infectious, her kindness boundless, and her wisdom profound.
A pillar of her community, Alice was actively involved in local charities and church activities. She believed in giving back to the world that had given her so much, and she did so with a generous heart and a gracious spirit. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life’s challenges and joys, and it was a source of great comfort to her family and friends.
Alice’s life was a tapestry of love, woven with threads of compassion, strength, and grace. Though predeceased by her beloved Bert, her parents, and her brothers, Alice’s spirit continues to illuminate the lives of those she leaves behind. Her daughters, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever carry her memory in their hearts, remembering her not just in moments of joy but as a source of strength in times of need.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held in her hometown of Whitesboro, where family and friends will gather to honor the incredible woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alice’s name to the local community church, a place that was dear to her heart.
Alice Pat Kanive’s life was a beautiful journey, and her legacy is an enduring testament to the power of love and family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, her soul forever cradled in the loving embrace of those who went before her.
