Alice Marie Kennedy-Washington

February 9, 1950 — October 19, 2026

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we remember Alice Kennedy-Washington, who peacefully departed this world on October 19, 2026. Born on February 9, 1950, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Alice accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of The Asia Baptist Church. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Abbie J. Kennedy and Albertha Scott Douglas-Kennedy, and her siblings, Rose Guy, Jeannette Kennedy, and Abbie Kennedy. She leaves behind her two sisters, Marlene Kennedy and Sylvia Goffner, and her loving children, Lloyd, John, Shanwa, and Bryan, who preceded her in death. She is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her close circle of friends and sisterhood remained by her side to the very end, especially her three dearest friends, Ms. Betty W. , Mrs. Liz M., and Ms. Barbara T. They, along with many others, held a special place in her heart. Many knew her as “Mae,” a woman who always seemed to know what her family needed and when they needed it. She stepped up whenever necessary, becoming a mother figure to her nieces and nephews. In her leisure time, Alice enjoyed painting, creating works that reflected the past and present of African American culture. She brought laughter and wisdom to every conversation, and her wit, radiant smile, and genuine nature left a lasting impression of warmth and trust. As we gather to honor Alice's life, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, embraced by the love of those who went before her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, Mae, Alice, and the matriarch of this family. Your memory will forever be treasured in our hearts.
