Alice Mae Mitchell, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 91, in a nurturing care facility after a courageous battle with illness. Born on December 18, 1934, in the United States to Willie Dawson and Claudia Randle, Alice was a beacon of warmth, humor, and joy throughout her life.
Alice was preceded in death by her dear parents, Willie and Claudia, her loving husband, Albert Lee Mitchell, her seven brothers Barry, Sam, Carver, Willie Junior, Daniel, Bridget, Curtis, her sister Ora, her cherished children Bevalyn, Curtis, and Delores, and one beloved companion, Charlie Howard. Despite these profound losses, Alice's spirit remained unbroken and her heart full of love.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Oneta Dean, and her three sons, Darnell Higgins, Fredrick Higgins, and Albert Mitchell, who will continue to honor her memory. Alice also leaves behind her sister, Zena Langston, and brother, Earl Randle, along with a vast legacy of 25 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love and strength.
Alice had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her. She cherished spending time with her family, often engaging in spirited conversations, sharing laughter, and enjoying moments filled with humor and dance. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Alice's life will be held on June 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Seals Funeral Home, located at 8345 S Marquette Ave. The family invites all who were touched by Alice's kindness and love to join them in honoring her remarkable life.
