In Loving Memory

Alice J Winks
July 28, 1938 — September 15, 2026
Alice Jean Winks was a truly special woman whose life was filled with love, faith, kindness, and devotion to the people she held dear. She peacefully passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on July 28, 1938, in Ida May, West Virginia, Alice was the beloved daughter of Elmer and Chlotile Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and the love of her life, Richard, her brothers Robert and Bud, and her sisters Ann and Carolyn.
Alice graduated from Bartlett Ohio High School in 1956, and on January 13, 1959, she married Richard. Together, they built a life and a family filled with memories, love, laughter, and faith.
Alice’s love for Jehovah was at the very heart of who she was. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses 70 years ago and her faith was something she carried with her throughout her entire life. She found great joy in sharing her faith with others, studying the Bible with people, and helping them grow in their own relationship with Jehovah. Her faith wasn’t simply something she believed—it was something she lived.
Alice found comfort in the Bible’s promise of the resurrection. Jesus assures us that “there is going to be a resurrection” (John 5:28, 29) and Jehovah promises that the earth will become a peaceful paradise where “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore” (Revelation 21:3, 4). We look forward to the time when Alice will be resurrected here on earth in the Paradise Jehovah has promised. She will no longer be elderly or troubled by aches and pains. Instead, she will be young, healthy, energetic, and even more spunky than before. We can easily imagine her enjoying all her free time caring for beautiful plants and flowers.
She found a special kind of peace in caring for her plants, tending to them and watching them grow. When a plant finally bloomed, it was a wonderful thing to see her joy. Those beautiful blooms brought a little extra brightness into her days and were a reminder of the simple things that brought her happiness.
But to those who knew her best, Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and a person who genuinely cared about others.
Her daughters, Tracey Ollam and Crystal Reeves, were a tremendous source of pride and joy in her life. She loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent with them. Her granddaughter, Jessica Cowell, held an especially precious place in her heart. And her great-grandchildren, Rylan and Jordyn Cowell, brought a special kind of happiness to her life. She loved watching them grow and took great joy in being their great-grandmother.
She had a gentle heart and a sparkling personality that made people feel loved, welcomed and that they truly mattered. She formed friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime and never hesitated to show kindness or lend a helping hand.
Her family will miss her more than words can express. Alice’s life touched more people than she probably ever realized. Her legacy isn’t simply in the years she lived, but in the love she gave, the faith she shared, the friendships she cherished, and the family she loved so dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to your local Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Alice’s memory.
