Alice Alday James, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 2, 1956, in Colquitt, Georgia, Alice was the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Myrtice Alday. She survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Mark James, with whom she shared a beautiful journey from high school sweethearts to a loving and enduring partnership. Their marriage was blessed with a large and joyful family, including her children: Jennifer Manning and husband Chris; Michael "Jason" James; Mary Jones and husband Derik; Whitney James; and Laura Robinson. Alice was a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Jasmine Nixon, ShaKayla Nixon, Shantas Nixon Jr., Kayleigh Jones, Ivy Jones, Ava Jones, Wyatt Jones, Chanel Robinson, Sadie Robinson, Paris Robinson, Alfie Robinson, and Cardie Robinson. Her legacy of love also extends to her three great-grandchildren: Mikai Reynolds, Zachary Lewis Jr., and Peyton Elmore. Alice is also remembered fondly by her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness. Alice's life was a tapestry woven with love, family, and community. Her home, especially during the holidays, was a beacon of joy and togetherness, beautifully decorated and filled with the sounds of laughter and the scents of her renowned cooking. She had a gift for hospitality, always eager to help and nurture those around her, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met. A celebration of Alice's life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 4536 Jubilee Trail, Tallahassee, FL 32305. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman who lived fully and loved deeply. Alice's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will be cherished for generations to come.
