Alice Faye Lee Fontenot

September 20, 1947 — October 2, 2026

Alice Faye Lee Fontenot, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on October 2, 2026. Born in Jena, Louisiana, on September 20, 1947, Alice graced this world with her compassion, strength, and unwavering faith for 79 years. She bravely battled the side effects of her cancer journey for 20 months, never losing sight of the faith that guided her life. Alice was the cherished daughter of James Wilborn Lee and Floy Catherine Roark Lee. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Benny Ray Lee, her sister Nettie, and her grandmother, Lissie Roark. Alice is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis L. Fontenot Sr., with whom she shared an extraordinary love for nearly 59 years. Together, they raised six children: Dennis L. Fontenot Jr. (Sabrina), Melissa Faye Goforth (Jonathan), Mindy Renee Marcantel (Joey), Michelle N. McLemore (Kirby), Martha E. Laqua (Brady), and Daniel N. Fontenot (Zack). Alice is survived by two sisters: Ruth Lee Gwinn and Kathy Perdue. Alice and Dennis were blessed with 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren, with more blessings anticipated. Alice was a proud graduate of Jena High School and dedicated her life to education and service. She enriched the lives of countless students as a teacher at Evangeline Academy in Vidrine, LA, and as an aide at Mamou High School. For 38 years, Alice stood steadfastly beside her husband in their pastoral duties, embodying the spirit of a pastor's wife with grace and dedication. In partnership with Dennis, Alice was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mamou, serving their Lord Jesus Christ in numerous capacities throughout their marriage. Her deep love for Jesus was evident in her passion for teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school, as well as crafting church bulletins and contributing to the local newspaper. Alice's talents extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid reader, gardener, cook, and baker who delighted in sewing and crafting. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent giving kisses and hugs to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Alice's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, located at 4502 Front Street, Winnsboro, LA. The Fontenot family would like to express their profound gratitude to all who have supported Alice and Dennis during her health journey. The generosity shown through monetary donations, meals, organized events, and, above all, prayers has been a comfort beyond measure. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to the entire staff at Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner, LA, for their unwavering care and compassion. In memory of Alice, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
